From Personal Reflections to Purposeful Living: My Journey to Becoming a Life Coach

Born & Raised in Two Worlds

Mia was born in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois—a place alive with hustle, bustle, and endless opportunities.

Yet, her life wasn’t only defined by the big city. During the school year, she lived in a small town in Northwest Ohio, on the country outskirts where everyone knew each other.

Her summers were spent back in Chicago with her dad and extended family, creating a unique dual experience.

This contrast gave Mia an early appreciation for both the energy of city life and the grounding calm of small-town living.

Growing Up the Macrobiotic Way

Mia’s Ohio upbringing was steeped in the homestead lifestyle.

Her parents, self-proclaimed “new age foodie hippies,” raised their children with a macrobiotic philosophy—a lifestyle built on balance, harmony, and healing through food.

Macrobiotics is an approach to eating that emphasizes whole, organic, seasonal plant-based foods, often paired with mindfulness and spiritual practices.)

From a young age, Mia learned to garden, harvest vegetables, and prepare foods that would nourish her family through the long Midwest winters.

She was canning vegetables, fermenting kimchi and sauerkraut, and learning the rhythms of nature well before most kids her age could cook.

This connection to food and the earth planted the seeds of her lifelong passion for health and wellness.

Lessons Beyond the Kitchen

Her parents deepened her education by taking her to natural food conventions, yoga and meditation retreats, and holistic wellness gatherings.

At these events, Mia was introduced to practices like yoga, Reiki, chi gong, tai chi, chakra balancing, and crystal healing.

One of her most cherished memories is listening to Michio Kushi, the Japanese educator who helped popularize macrobiotics in the United States.

This passion guided her academic path: Mia pursued Biomedical Sciences and Nutrition in college.

She began cooking dinners for her family as young as 10 years old, exploring creative vegan dishes.

Today, she still enjoys preparing healthy, delicious meals—though she eventually learned that her personal health and well-being required including meat.

Why I Became a Life Coach

Mia’s deeper calling started when she was just 14.

She experienced amenorrhea (the absence of menstruation) along with hot flashes, sleepless nights, and other symptoms far beyond her years.

Through years of exploration, trial, and discovery, she realized that the body is one interconnected system—mind, emotions, and physiology working together.

These early challenges became the foundation for what would later evolve into her signature Neuro Fit Flex Method, a holistic approach to healing and coaching.

Mia became a life coach because she believes transformation happens when people understand themselves fully, inside and out.

Her journey—rooted in food, wellness, science, and self-healing—inspires her to guide others toward wholeness, resilience, and empowerment.
